"I picked this combo to get the chance to do something more than just Island Peak. I can really recommend the combination because Island Peak is a bit easier and was a good preparation to Lobuche which is more exposed and different climbers there.

I have only positive things to say both about the Nepalese and the Swedish part of Adventure Lovers. Everything worked just perfect..."/Magnus Bredin

I chosed Adventure Lovers to arrange my trip because everything worked out perfect the first time and I wanted experienced and skilled guides on the mountain. This time was no exception and everything, and I really mean everything worked perfectly..."/Magnus N 5

Baruntse climbing expedition

A magnificent 7000-meter mountain, located east of Mount Everest. Baruntse is a perfect mountain for those climbers have been doing some alpine climbing before. You have probably climbed one or more 6000 meter tops in the Himalayas, South America or Denali in Alaska and now is looking for a higher challenge.

The route we choose to climb is from South east is what we call straightforward and it was also the route used when it was summit for the first time in 1954 by Geoff Harrow and Colin Todd in Edmund’s New Zealand expedition.

Most of the way you will climb on snow, but we will also climb on ice during a few steep sections on higher altitude. On your climb to C1 at roughly 6000 meters, you will climb a 150-meter high ice wall, the steepness is around 70-80 degrees. At around 7000 meters we will climb over a large ice cliff, which will make a nice challenge to this great expedition.

We will also fight against some cornices, which normally are established on the top ridge. Those places we climb steep and also have cornices, which look bad, we will use fixed ropes.

We will most likely choose to trek into Baruntse base camp through the lovely Hinku valley, which is shorter than the Arun valley plus you will have a chance to do an acclimatisation climb on Mera Peak, reaching 6476 meter.

We will use two camps, C1 at 6100 meters and C2 at 6500 meters, from where we will start our summit push.
